Type area: Bear Creek, between 1,256 and 1,548 m elevation, Buck Rock quadrangle, Mendocino Co., CA. Named from Taliaferro Ridge, which runs from Leech Lake Mountain northeast to Middle Fork of Eel River (Suppe and Armstrong, 1972).
