Type section: in tributary of Rio Mameyes, 6 km south of Mameyes, extending upstream from point 300 m west of river to Coco Falls at highway (Puerto Rico Meter Grid System 223,330 E.; 53,880 N. to 222,290 E.; 54,110 N.), El Yunque quadrangle, Puerto Rico. Named from Quebrada Tabonuco, 3 km south of Mameyes, Puerto Rico (Seiders, 1971).
