Table Rock Plutonic Suite (SC*,NC*)


Subunits:

In SC, Caesars Head Granite, informal Reedy River complex of Wagener (1977), plutons at Starr and other bodies. In NC, Toluca Granite, Dysartsville and Sandy Mush plutons of Goldsmith and others (1988), Brooks Crossroads pluton of Harper and Fullager (1981), gneiss near Call formerly mapped as Henderson Gneiss. In GA, Lithonia Gneiss?


Geologic age:

Late Ordovician to early Silurian*


Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type area: Table Rock, a mountain in Table Rock State Park, Pickens Co., SC, where Caesars Head Granite is well exposed. Not to be confused with Tablerock Mountain, Burke Co., NC (Horton and McConnell, 1991).


AAPG geologic province:

Piedmont-Blue Ridge province*
