Type locality: near St. Meinrad, Spencer Co., southern IN (H.C. Hutchison, IN Shaver and others, 1970).
Indiana geologists consider type locality to be [near St. Meinrad] in northeast part T. 4 S., R. 4 W., Spencer Co., southern IN, and credit name to Franklin and Wanless [Franklin] (1944, Illinois Acad. Sci. Trans., v. 37, p. 87-88) (Shaver and others, 1986).
