Type section: northwest corner of informally named "Spectre Spur" located in southwestern part of Baker 15-min quadrangle [in T. 14 N., R. 7 E., West of Baker 7.5-min quadrangle (provisional, 1983)], San Bernardino Co., CA. Origin of name not stated by authors, but probably named from Silver Lake (playa) located north of town of Baker (Walker and Wardlaw, 1989).
