Type section: in sec. 19, T. 40 N., R. 116 W., Teton Co., WY. Named from Shooting Iron Ranch which is adjacent to measured type section (Love, 1989).
Reference sections: (1) Botcher Hill, in sec. 11, T. 41 N., R. 116 W.; (2) Boyle Ditch, in SE/4 sec. 25, T. 42 N., R. 116 W.; (3) Old Miller Cabin, in sec. 25, T. 42 N., R. 115 W.; and (4) Granite Creek Divide, in NE/4 Turquoise Lake 7.5-min quadrangle, at 10,000 ft elevation (Love, 1989).
