Type section: railroad cut about 200 m east of Sheep Crossing, in NW/4 SE/4 NW/4 sec. 33, T. 7 N., R. 27 E., southern Apache Co., AZ. Named from locality where AZ Highway 273 crosses West Fork of Little Colorado River, in S/2 NW/4 sec. 33, T. 7 N., R. 27 E., southern Apache Co., AZ (Merrill and Pewe, 1971).
