Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Named from exposures in Scituate Twp., Providence Co., RI. Good exposures at east wall of spillway at west abutment of the Kent Dam of the Scituate Reservoir and in small quarry 0.5 mi west of Snake Dam (Quinn, 1951).
