Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type area is along Pine Creek Canyon, east of Pine Creek septum [Lat. 37 deg. 26 min. 24 sec. N., Long. 118 deg. 34 min. 14 sec. W., Inyo Co., CA]. Named from mining settlement of Scheelite, along lower Pine Creek (Bateman, 1992).
