Type exposure: in Ravinia, where there is an accessible section of the Lake Michigan beach, in W/2 sec. 31, T. 43 N., R. 13 E., Lake Co., northeastern IL. Named from Ravinia, in the southern part of Highland Park, Lake Co., northeastern IL (Willman and Frye, 1970).
