Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Named from representative outcrops along U.S. Highway 46 and Erie-Lackawanna RR near Ramseyburg, Portland quadrangle, Warren Co., NJ. Well exposed between Slateford, PA, and Delaware Water Gap and along Bushkill and Little Bushkill Creeks in Northampton Co., PA (Drake and Epstein, 1967).
