Named from Post Oak Creek in sec. 12, T. 2 N., R. 15 W., and from Post Oak Mission [no longer exists] in northeast corner of sec. 7, T. 2 N., R. 14 W., [Fort Sill Military Reservation, Quanah Mountain 7.5-min quadrangle], Comanche Co., southwestern OK, where unit is thick and well developed (Chase, 1954).
