Mapped in vicinity of settlement of Polaris, Truckee area, north of Lake Tahoe, northeastern CA. [Named from Polaris, in sec. 7, T. 17 N., R. 17 E., Truckee 15-min quadrangle, Nevada Co., northeastern CA] (Birkeland, 1963).
