Type section: in SW/2 SE/4 sec. 36, T. 20 N., R. 8 E., Santa Fe Co., NM. Exposed in the central Pojoaque Bluffs. Pojoaque is the Spanish translation of the Tewa Indian word meaning "drinking water place" (Galusha and Blick, 1971).
