Type section: exposed in an east-west roadcut in SW/4 SE/4 SE/4 sec. 30, T. 14 S., R. 13 E., about 1.5 miles west of Harveyville, Wabaunsee Co., eastern KS. Named from Plumb Twp., southeastern Wabaunsee Co., eastern KS (Moore and Mudge, 1956).
