Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name: (See Canadian Lexicon)

Type locality: in Lot 1, Range 1, Dunham Twp., Sutton quadrangle, Quebec, Canada, on north side of road and on western limb of same syncline that caps Pinnacle Mountain and Spruce Hill. Named from Pinnacle Mountain which has capping of graywacke (Clark, 1931).
