In vicinity of Piapi Canyon, about 2 mi northwest of [Shoshone Peak, Lat. 36 deg. 56 min. 37 sec. N., Long. 116 deg. 15 min. 39 sec. W., Topopah Spring 7.5-min quadrangle], Nevada Test Site, Nye Co., NV. Named from Piapi Canyon (Poole and McKeown, 1962).
