Type section: Outcrop 400 m S. 10 deg W. of Hog Camp Gap where the Appalachian Trail reaches the crest of Cole Mountain, Lat. 37 deg. 45 min. 30 sec. N., Long. 79 deg. 11 min. 30 sec. W., Montebello 7.5-min quadrangle, Rockbridge Co., VA (Sinha and Bartholomew, 1984).
Named from Pedlar River, VA (Bartholomew and Lewis, 1984).
