Type section: in headwaters and east of canyon of Papoose Creek, south of Portneuf River, in sec. 35, T. 7 S., R. 35 E., and in secs. 2 and 3, T. 8 S., R. 35 E., Bannock Co., ID (Crittenden and others, 1971).
Type locality: south of Portneuf River, about 5 mi southeast of Pocatello, Bannock Co., ID (Crittenden and others, 1971).
