Named from Panther Seep Spring, in sec. 25, T. 12 S., R. 2 E., [Lat. 33 deg. 14 min. 17 sec. N., Long 106 deg. 40 min. 42 sec. W ., Hardscrabble Mountains 7.5-min quadrangle, Sierra Co., southwestern NM] (Kottlowski and others, 1956).
