Type section: exposures in Quebrada Escarcha, Puerto Rico, 600 m south of the north border of the Naranjito quadrangle and extending south for 500 m (Puerto Rico Meter Grid System 177,620 E.; 59,390 N. to 177,630 E.; 58,940 N.). Named from Barrio Pajaros (Pease, 1968).
