Named from Oyster Ridge, a pronounced ridge that trends northward from Spring Gap, in T. 16 N., R. 116 W., to Burnt Bend, in T. 26 N., R. 115 and 116 W., [Lincoln Co.], southwestern WY (Veatch, 1906; 1907).
[ca. 1967, ridge btw. Spring Gap and Cumberland Gap (in T. 19 N., R. 116 W.) is now called The Hogsback, Uinta Co.]
