Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: in east-west roadcut and ditch in SW/4 SW/4 sec. 2, T. 8 S., R. 10 E., Pottawatomie Co., northeastern KS. Named from town of Onaga in northern part of county (Moore and Mudge, 1956).
