Type section: west flank Torreon Wash, where extensively exposed in SE/4 SE/4 NW/4 sec. 27, T. 21 N., R. 5 W., Deer Mesa 7.5-min quadrangle, Sandoval Co., northwestern NM. Named from Ojo Encino (Spanish for Oak Spring) located just west of Torreon Wash, in sec. 22, T. 20 N., R. 5 W. (Williamson and Lucas, 1992).
