Type locality: at the head of Ojito Creek, about 22 km east of Platoro, Lat. 37 deg. 20 min. N., Long. 106 deg. 17 min. W., Conejos Co., southern CO. Named from Ojito Creek (Lipman and Steven, 1970).
Principal reference section: along lower Alamosa River canyon on southwest slope of Chiquita Peak, in secs. 24 and 25, T. 36 N., R. 6 E., Conejos Co., southern CO (Lipman, 1975).
