Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality (stratotype): Along Hiwassee River, approximately 1 km north of Brasstown, NC (Thompson and Tull, 1991). Named from exposures on northern slope of Mission Mountain near Peachtree, NC (Tull and others, 1991).


AAPG geologic province:

Piedmont-Blue Ridge province
