Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: about 9,750 ft west of Long. 77 deg. 45 min. W., and 1,250 ft north of Lat. 40 deg. 55 min. N., in Bellefonte quadrangle. Exposure is on northern edge of town of Bellefonte in cut along eastern side of Route 53 that leads to Milesburg, Centre Co., PA (Thompson, 1963).
