Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: Roadcut on south side of Mapleview Road, west of its intersection with Maple Road, SE/4 SW/4 SW/4 sec. 34, T. 31 N., R. 10 E., Mattoon 7.5-min quadrangle, Langlade Co., WI. Named from Mapleview Road, a town road running east from Highways 45, 47, and 52, south of Antigo (Mickelson and others, 1984).
