Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: in abandoned quarry along County Road 645 about 1 mi north of intersection of U.S. Route 19 and State Highway 61, Tazewell Co., southwestern VA. Named from a branch tributary to Clinch River (Cooper and Prouty, 1943).
