Type section: tributary canyon on north side of Canoncito de Puertecito del Lemitar (Corkscrew Canyon), 8 mi northwest of Socorro, in NW/4 SE/4 SE/4 sec. 12, T. 2 S., R. 2 W., Lemitar Mountains, Lemitar 7.5-min quadrangle, Socorro Co., central NM (Osburn and Chapin, 1983).
