Type locality: cuts on U.S. Highway 40, just southwest of American Legion Golf Club grounds, Riley Co., eastern KS. Named from American Legion Golf Club grounds and buildings, about 1.75 mi southwest of Manhattan, eastern KS (Condra and Busby, 1933).
