Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: escarpment north of Lamar Canyon, where canyon is crossed by Western Gas pipeline, about 15 mi due east of Guadalupe Point [Peak?], Delaware basin, western TX. Named from Lamar Canyon, southeast of Guadalupe Mountains, in northwest Culberson Co., western TX (Lang, 1937).
