Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 764 to 885 ft, Michigan Consolidated Gas Company No. L-124 well, in NW/4 NW/4 NW/4 sec. 21, T. 18 N., R. 5 W., Lincoln Twp., Clare Co., MI. Named from the nearby village of Lake George (Vugrinovich, 1984).
