Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: on east side of Cerro El Gigante, at km post 5.0 on Route 518 (Puerto Rico Meter Grid System 122,300 E.; 33,980 N.), Adjuntas quadrangle, west-central Puerto Rico. Named from exposures in vicinity of Lago Garzas and eastward from the lake along Route 518 (Mattson, 1967).
