Type section: Road cut on south side of Highway W., 0.1 mi (0.16 km) west of Kirby Lake Road, NE/4 NW/4 SE/4 sec. 27, T. 32 N., R. 19 E., Crivitz 7.5-min quadrangle, Marinette Co., WI. Named from Kirby Lake, a lake 15 km west of Krivitz (Mickelson and others, 1984).
