Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: measured across the strike south of Brazos River, Parker Co., north-central TX. Outcrop of beds extends to Cretaceous on either side of Hill Creek. Named from Hill Creek, a small tributary flowing from southwest into Brazos River at point about midway of outer curve of Lazy Bend of river (Hendricks, 1957).
