Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: along Brush Creek, in secs. 6 and 8, T. 9 N., R. 2 E., Knox Co., western IL. Named from village of Hermon about 2.5 mi south of type outcrop (Kosanke and others, 1960).
