Type locality: southwest of Wetmore on South Hardscrabble Creek, about 0.5 mi west of North Creek bridge, in S/2 sec. 11, T. 22 S., R. 69 W., Custer Co., CO. Named from Hardscrabble Creek (Maher, 1950).
