Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: East slope of north end of East Range facing Grass Valley, in secs. 30, 31, and 32, T. 34 N., R. 37 E., and in secs. 24, 25, and 26, T. 34 N., R. 36 E., Rose Creek 15-min quadrangle, Pershing Co., north-central NV (Burke and Silberling, 1973).
Type area: mountain slope facing Grass Valley, northern part of East Range, Winnemucca quadrangle (Muller and others, 1951; Burke and Silberling, 1973).
