Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 3,109 to 3,268 m, Humble Oil and Refining Company No. 1 Collier Corp. well, in sec. 27, T. 50 S., R. 26 E., Collier Co., FL. Named from Gordon Pass, which connects Gulf of Mexico with barrier beach lagoon, 9.6 km west of type well (Winston, 1971).
