Type section (Sulphur Springs Group): south of Glen Park, in old quarry face along river bluff above Missouri Pacific RR, in southeast corner of SE/4 NE/4 sec. 5, T. 41 N., R. 6 E., Jefferson Co., central eastern MO (Mehl, 1960; see Thompson, 2001).
Named from exposures at Glen Park Station, Jefferson Co., central eastern MO (US geologic names lexicons, USGS Bull. 896, 1200).
