Type section: in abandoned quarry on east side of IL Highway 3, but not visible from road, about 1.25 mi southeast of bridge over Marys River and 0.25 mi southeast of Ford Station siding of the Missouri Pacific RR, in NW/4 SE/4 sec. 33, T. 7 S., R. 6 W., Chester quadrangle, Randolph Co., southeastern IL (Swann, 1963).
