Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Not designated. First described in Syracuse quadrangle, Onondaga Co., western NY (Hopkins, 1914).
According to Ciurca (1990), type section is along Butternut Creek, north of Jamesville, NY.

Appalachian basin
