Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: along the west bank of Red Clay Creek between Lancaster Pike (DE Route 48) southeast to Kirkwood Highway (DE Route 2). More common lithologies displayed in outcrops along both sides of creek, from Lat. 39 deg. 45 min. 43 sec. N., southward to 39 deg. 43 min. 54 sec. N., and Long. 75 deg. 38 min. 18 sec. W., eastward to 75 deg. 37 min. 45 sec. W., Kennett Square and Newark East 7.5-min quadrangles, New Castle Co., DE. Origin of name not stated by authors, but probably named from town of Faulkland (Plank and others, 2000).
