Type section: between 0.5 and 2 mi south of Edna, near Edna oil field and along northwest side of Pismo Creek, in T. 31 and 32 S., R. 13 E., Arroyo Grande NE and Pismo Beach 7.5-min quadrangles, San Luis Obispo Co., CA (Hall, 1973a).
