Type section: on interfluve west of Nottingham Creek, north side of Eagle River, in secs. 6 and 7, T. 5 S., R. 81 W., Eagle Co., CO. Named from exposures in Eagle Valley of Eagle River, near Avon, west-central CO (Lovering and Mallory, 1962).
