No older than Late Pennsylvanian (Virgilian) and no younger than early Permian (Wolfcampian)
Named from quarry in the sandstone just north of National Pike at Davistown, Greene Co., PA (Hickok and Moyer, 1940). [See US geologic names lexicon, USGS Bull. 1200]
