Type section: 0.25 mi west of Dollar's cabin on southeast flank of Mount Crosby, near Kirwin [ghost town at approx. Lat. 43 deg. 52 min. 36 sec. N., Long. 109 deg. 17 min. 50 sec. W., Shoshone National Forest], , Kirwin 15-min quadrangle, Park Co., southern Absaroka Range, northwestern WY (Wilson, 1964a).
Probably named from Mount Crosby (Wilson, 1963).
