Type section: exposed in Mississippi Valley bluff at south edge of Degonia Creek Hollow, 0.25 mi north of Cora, in SW/4 SE/4 sec. 16, T. 8 S., R. 5 W., Campbell Hill quadrangle, Jackson Co., IL (Swann, 1963).
