Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: on southern end of Tom Hill, northeast of Copake, Columbia Co., southeastern NY. Upper part of section is well exposed in small quarry near junction of Route 22 and road leading to town; base of section is in a series of small cliffs about 500 ft west of main quarry (Knopf, 1927; Weaver, 1957).
